Don't wait to be served, be ready to pounce and take your bet.
Hey there Stoans,
Itβs been a nerves-on-edge week for C11 and C12 with the Charter results being announced over the weekend!
Big shoutout to all the fellows who worked hard and put effort into their projects, great work! Kudos to our stars who earned the Stoa Charter and cleared it with flying colours.π
You can check out their profiles here-
With them adding to our Charter holders list, we have 105 Stoans who have outperformed and earned this.
Love how the clan is growing!π₯
Meet Dasaratha Rama from Cohort 9, an Engineer turned Operations Executive turned Marketing guru who recently landed a new role as Community Manager at NXTwave.
After being confused for a long time about what his career trajectory should be, Dasaratha decided to make the most of the career coaches and life coaches at Stoa and narrowed his niche to marketing, and doubled down on it.
From learning and experimenting with performance marketing to writing 2-3 blog pages and building his design and content expertise, he worked rigorously to build a strong and job-ready portfolio that helped with his transition from ops to marketing.
Check out some of his work here.
An interesting story, during his job hunt process (which btw was one hell of a ride that Iβll come to later), he was the one to follow up with us, super proactive, and kicked our reminder app out of work for 2 months. XD
Now, his job hunt process-
Step 1: getting clarity on the role and the career path he wants to take
Step 2: he worked hours at a stretch to build his portfolio and resume within days with all the necessary details about the projects he had done at Stoa, his personal projects, and his learnings.
Step 3: he took all the help available and did some solid research on the companies of his choice and understood their business model from scratch.
Step 4: Practice during mock interviews and behavioral interviews. He was one to take feedback very seriously and ask relevant questions (too often XD)
And he repeated the last 2 steps for weeks on end with utmost diligence and sincerity until he landed the role he wanted.
We all know that job hunting is tedious. It was not all great for him too, he did get frustrated and was contemplating giving up marketing as his domain of choice.
He shared that-
βI spoke to Gaurav & Shruti and she helped me gain my confidence in my proof of work and my ability to get the compensation I was aiming for. I needed an accountability partner to get me through the process and Iβm glad I stuck it out.
Having the Charter project was a very strong addition to my portfolio and I used it to my advantage in my final interview to crack the role.
Another thing that helped me make this transition smoothly was not being too finicky and having a realistic career plan. I knew that an ops to marketing jump isnβt too easy and hence, I worked hard, looked for roles that will help me learn more and grow, and then, approached jobs.β
Kudos and all the best to Dasaratha in his new role and his commitment to learning!
