Stoa Digest #128: 🎖️Innovation at Max🎖️
Finding opportunity is a matter of believing it’s there.
Hello readers and welcome!
Education is what brings us all here, right?
Not many of you might be aware of this but there are over 10 Lakh government schools in India with varying degrees of quality and amenities.
Last week, I got a chance to interview Aadi Rungta, Director, and Ananthi Balakrishnan, Tamil Nadu lead from The Education Alliance team.
The Education Alliance (TEA), a non-profit organisation started in 2014 adopts govt schools and brings in experts to help solve the problems faced by those schools and they become the quality holders of education on behalf of the Government.
What differentiates TEA from a consulting company?
“Think of a consulting firm that doesn’t stop at ideation but works towards implementing and translating strategy into action and follows a thorough monitoring process to measure impact.
TEA works with different state governments and ensures last-mile connectivity of their ideas to improve the state of infrastructure, education delivery, curriculum, and facilities in the state.”
What makes TEA a unique opportunity for the youth?
“With a team of 60+ people in-house and more than 2 Lakh volunteers, TEA has been able to impact millions of students, teachers, and parents in India and educate them on the right way towards education. For an early working professional having access to hundreds of crores of budget of the government to be able to plan their policy administration is very very rare.
Imagine as a 25-30 year old, you are accessing 200 crores that the government has set aside for a particular project and then you work with the ministers and the officers to make decisions on how to deploy that, crazy right?
Being able to leverage the resources of the government and create impact at scale is what is so unique about TEA.”
This opportunity is rare and interesting. I was very hooked to their Foundational Literacy And Numeracy (FNL) program which focuses on the fundamentals of learning. Can you too hear Aditya’s words “Our fundamental belief is to make you master the fundamentals.”
Well, it is true for education everywhere.
The intent behind telling you about TEA is for you to do your due diligence and if interested, join them in their mission to make quality education accessible.
