Fellow Feature

A letter to all our fresh Cohort 4 fellows from the most Krantikaari Stoan we know - Ms. Tanishka Goel.

Hello, Cohort 4! 👋🏻

I’m assuming you’ve heard enough about Stoa already so far (if you haven’t, then I’d strongly urge you to reconsider your spending decisions).

Here are a few things that’ll happen during your time at Stoa:

  • You’ll learn to decode a lot of business jargon, you’ll sound smart by the end of these six months, and you’ll start devouring The Ken articles like a pro (subtle plug).

  • You’ll attend a few coaching sessions and feel really light and unburdened.

  • You’ll develop a strong network of aspirational, passionate and brilliant folks.

  • You’ll also feel scared. And stressed. And intimidated. Because it’ll feel like everyone around you is doing so much more than you, and then some. And that’s okay. Just know that everyone’s fakin’ it till they’re makin’ it.

I once read this somewhere: ‘Humans are mostly magic and we are all just unfinished magic, and we’re more likely to be the fullest extent of our magic if other people see us that way first.’

Trust me when I say this, the folks at Stoa (and I don’t mean just the Stoa team, I mean the fellows with whom you will spend 300+ hours over the next 24 weeks) will help you discover this magic. There’s magic within you, and there’s magic within them, and you’ll all find it together on a Discord server. And Aditya will say this is serendipity, and maybe it is. And Manoj will say this is networking, and maybe it is. I don’t know what it is; all I know is I got a constantly buzzing WhatsApp group of people I found here who know about everything that happens to me during my day, and who are my biggest cheerleaders.

While you’re busy learning business here (and I say this at the risk of sounding really corny), don’t forget to focus on the most important aspect of business — people. Find your cheerleaders in the next six months. More importantly, don’t forget to become someone else’s cheerleader.

Spot me in your Discord server. I'll be the one making (sometimes good) jokes.

From The Team:

Hey Folks, last week we held a Community event to seed some Clubs at Stoa. We know that there are many more Clubs to be created, but we’re starting small.
The following 4 clubs got together to ideate what they’d do as a Club.

  • Entrepreneurship Club

  • Writing Club

  • Books & Reading Club

  • Food & Cooking Club

Following that jam session, these are the two clubs - Entrepreneurship & Writing that have their manifestos ready, for more members to join them.

Expect an email in your inbox by the end of the day with more details on these two clubs and how you can join them.
See you on the inside! 🚪🗝

Community Buzz 🐝

  • C3's gone on a rampage, and is actually building out one of the biggest meetups we've seen a Cohort plan, till date. If you feel like hijacking it, do check in with the planners of it, of which the names I will not be found giving away. We hope you're prepared for a tonne of incoming FOMO, even to the other fellows from Cohort 3, that won't be able to attend this themselves.

  • There's a new meme competition in town, and we've been seeing Cohort 3 flexing, but not bringing the heat so much this last week.

  • We’re BEGGING you - if you see a thread on something you want to respond to, please respond in the thread. And, if you dont, please create one. 🙃

Here’s one more meetup that didnt come in in time to be updated last week, but is a nice mix of Goa, Indore, Bombay, Delhi & Pune all in one frame.

Best Discord messages this week:

This week's are mostly all memes.

  • We're kinda tired

  • What you hear vs what you take away

  • Very very close to stealing MOTW

  • Srinidy asked to uncover "+43" and well - here it is, you'll only have to scroll down to Pranav's piece 🙂
But there was also a TL;DR by Jainam here

  • How does Zuck sound persuasive & logical?

  • The best conversationalist? Maybe. Test them out!
