The Stoa Bikers’ Creed started by Abhiram and Shantanu from the Stoa team has been on a roll. Early morning ride into nature’s lap and great food, what’s not to like, right? Here’s a small sneak peak into their previous ride and the story behind the beautiful Shettihalli church by Shantanu.
The Shettihalli church is a masterpiece in many ways. Built on the banks of Hemavathi river in Shettihalli village of Hassan district (about 3 and a half hour from Bengaluru International Airport), it is the forgotten testament of the village’s past and a classic example of Gothic architecture. It is purported to have been constructed in 1860 by a French missionary named Abbe J A Dubois. The materials used were the ordinary brick and mortar, along with glass from Belgium, Egyptian gypsum, jaggery and eggshells.
Could that be the secret to its sheer strength against the test of time? Our ride was a flash from the past where friends came together, singing and bantering on the highway. Can’t wait to do more of these with my Stoa fam.
